Look What Happened IMMEDIATELY Before Neil Gorsuch Senate Vote

The Senate was supposed to vote on Monday on whether or not to confirm Neil Gorsuch, Donald Trump’s Supreme Court pick. Unfortunately, Democrats on the Senate Judiciary Committee forced a one week delay of the vote just minutes before it was to take place.

NBC News reported that at least 19 Democrats have come out to oppose Gorsuch and that Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer has pledged to filibuster him, meaning he’ll force a 60-vote threshold once it clears the committee. Since Republicans hold 52 seats, they will need at least eight Democrats to vote with them in sending Gorsuch forward.

However, Republicans have the other extreme option of employing the “nuclear” option, which involves a change of Senate rules to eliminate the filibuster for Supreme Court nominees.

On Monday, Mazie Hirono, D-Hawaii, became the latest Democrat to oppose Gorsuch and support the filibuster.

“It matters that this person get more than a bare minimum of votes in the U.S. Senate,” Hirono said. “It just shows how shortsighted and political they want to make this process.”

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has not yet indicated whether he will take the nuclear option, since there are still 30 Democrats who haven’t said how they will vote. Sen. Chris Coons, D-Del., said he is “almost certain” that Republicans will go “nuclear.”

“In talking to friends on both sides of the aisle we’ve got a lot of senators concerned about where we’re headed. There’s Republicans still very mad at us over the 2013 change to the filibuster rule, we’re mad at them about shutting down the government, they’re mad at us about Gorsuch, and we are not headed in a good direction,” Coons, a member of the Judiciary committee, said on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe.”

We find it childish that Democrats are wasting time trying to stop the confirmation of Gorsuch, someone who both parties agree is a quality Supreme Court nominee. SHARE this story if you support Gorsuch!
